Retail displays and fading

Use window film to combat fading

Technical advances in window film mean that retail window displays can remain largely unaffected by the amount of sunlight exposure. At the same time window film offers other benefits to retailers that may not be immediately apparent.

  • Blocking up to 99% of the ultra violet light, the main cause of fading
  • Rejecting damaging heat gain that can also affect valuable stock
  • Keeping glass together in the event of breakage
  • Ceramic films let higher levels of light in, but still reduce much of the heat
  • Protecting high value stock items that are on display
Slowing the fading process

Correct installation of window film can dramatically slow down the fading process by at least half the normal rate – and sometimes more depending on your choice of film. It should be noted that where any level of daylight is present in a room, the risk of fading will always exist.

Protect valuable display items with window film

Specifying different tint levels will adjust the exposure of goods to sunlight but a careful balance of visible light (so the goods can be seen) needs to be offset against the practical and cost saving implications of fitting film. Tinting Express offer a wealth of knowledge in this area and would be happy to advise.

Expensive goods can remain in their original display condition for much longer where window film has been fitted. Rotating of displayed stock can also be carried out less frequently and with the added safety benefits of fitting window film, glass remains held together in the event of breakage.
